There are two main types of fibre optic cables: Single Mode Optical Fibers and Multi-Mode Optical Fibers.

Single Mode Optical Fibers

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) classifies single-mode optical fibers into three types based on chromatic dispersion:
1) G.652 – Standard single-mode fiber with no dispersion shift.
2) G.653 – Single-mode fiber with shifted dispersion.

Multi Mode Fibers
